About
Version historyGood for Today is a simple safety app designed for anyone who wants peace of mind in their daily life. Whether you live alone, travel frequently, or just want the comfort of knowing someone is looking out for you, Good for Today has you covered.
The core concept is straightforward: you check in once a day to let people know you’re okay. If you miss your check-in, the app takes action on your behalf — notifying the right people so help can reach you when it matters most.
Good for Today is also a social network built around care. You can connect with friends inside the app who can see your check-in status and cheer you on. But it goes beyond just online connections — you also designate real-world emergency contacts who are only reached when something might be wrong. These two groups serve very different purposes, and understanding the distinction is key to getting the most out of the app.
Online Friends vs. Emergency Contacts
Online Friends (In-App)
- ◦People you connect with inside the Good for Today app
- ◦Can see your daily check-in status and streaks
- ◦Provide social motivation and accountability
- ◦Do not receive emergency alerts
- ◦Cannot see your personal or sensitive information
Emergency Contacts (Real-World)
- ◦Trusted people you designate outside the app — family, neighbors, close friends
- ◦Only contacted via email if you miss a check-in and don’t respond to reminders
- ◦Receive a notification that you may need help
- ◦Do not have access to your in-app activity, friend list, or personal details
- ◦Serve as your real-world safety net when it counts
How Emergency Contacts Work
Setting up an emergency contact is simple — all you need is their name and email address. When you miss a check-in and don’t respond to reminders, Good for Today will send an email notification to your emergency contacts letting them know you may need help.
We’ve intentionally kept this process streamlined to make the app as easy and affordable to use as possible. There are no SMS notifications — everything runs through email, which helps us keep costs down and the app accessible to everyone.
